Hello beshooo:

Thank you for joining the Graphics community.

When you use a laptop we recommend to use the drivers provided by the manufacturer of it, in this case HP, this in order to make sure the graphics drivers will be fully compatible with your system.

On the following link you will find the drivers provided by HP, please look for the option that says "graphics":

http://support.hp.com/emea_middle_east-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-15-ay100-notebook-pc/12499456/model/15270651# Z7_3054ICK0K8UDA0AQC11TA930O2 http://support.hp.com/emea_middle_east-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-15-ay100-notebook-pc/12499456/model/15270651# Z7_3054ICK0K8UDA0AQC11TA930O2

Where you able to use 1280x1024 or 1920x1080 resolutions before?

On the link below you will find the specifications of your laptop, according to them, the processor inside the laptop is the Intel® i7-7500U, and also you will be able to confirm that the max resolution supported by the laptop is 1366x768, please verify where it says "display and graphics":

Also, it says that the operating system on the laptop is FreeDOS 2.0, if that is the case the Intel drivers might not work because they were design to work with windows, however if you are using Windows on the following link you will find the latest version of the graphics drivers for Intel® HD Graphics 620 in case you want to install them:

Beta driver 4614:

Driver 4590:

Please try the drivers provided by HP first and verify if you can get the resolutions you are looking for, and if not then try to install the Intel drivers and then try again, please let us know the results.

On the next link you will be able to confirm that the processor supports 4K resolution when using HDMI, eDP and DP, so we can confirm the processor does support the resolutions you are trying to use:

http://ark.intel.com/products/95451/Intel-Core-i7-7500U-Processor-4M-Cache-up-to-3_50-GHz-?q=Intel%C2%AE%20Core%E2%84%A2%20i7-7500U%20Processor%20(4M%20Cache,%20up%20to%203.50%20GHz%20) http://ark.intel.com/products/95451/Intel-Core-i7-7500U-Processor-4M-Cache-up-to-3_50-GHz-?q=Intel%C2%AE%20Core%E2%84%A2%20i7-7500U%20Processor%20(4M%20Cache,%20up%20to%203.50%20GHz%20)

So, it seems to be it is a hardware limitation of the laptop, however in order to make sure about that you can always get in contact directly with HP, a BIOS update might be helpful too and they will be able to provide all the details in order to try that option:

HP's phone number: 1 800-474-6836

HP's support site: http://support.hp.com/us-en http://support.hp.com/us-en

Any further questions, please let me know.

Regards

Alberto

Hello beshooo:

You are very welcome.

Thank you very much for letting us know that information.

To answer your question, from our end we basically tried the best option we have available, which is to install the latest version of Intel graphics drivers.

At this point to get in contact with AMD is a really good option, so it is excellent that you are trying to do that and if they can provide their graphics drivers, please try to install them.

For this scenario also to get in contact with HP directly will be a good thing to do, because they will be able to confirm if in fact this is hardware limitation and the max resolution available is 1366 x 768, specially if the 1920 x 1080 and 1280 x 1024 resolutions never worked before.

Please let us know the resolution after getting in contact with AMD and HP.

Any questions, please let me know.

Regards
