Hi Tapemeasureman,

I will need to collect more information before providing any troubleshooting. Please tell me if this video adapter was working before with the same pc and monitor.

Also, send to me the results of Intel® System Support Utility.

Thanks,Mike

No it is a new "refurb" from Microcenter. I bought one ( identical ) last

week and returned it for the same problem. Picked up another yesterday.

Before I left the store I made them hook it up, 1 st using VGA plug worked

fine. Tech support did not have a display port to HDMI adapter, but did

have a DP to VGA adapter. Again it worked fine, video anyway, we didnt

check for audio, and thats not a concern. The DP to HDMI adapter I have

worked fine on my last Lenovo .desktop, although it seems to me I may have

had the same problems initially when I got that one 2-3 years ago. Im

pretty sure I had this issue back then. I just changed out my HDMI cable

for a brand new one so its not that. I dont have another working unit with

a DP out plug to test out the adapter. In the Intel control panel, it tells

me monitor and TV settings are not supported.....

Thanks for your timely response

Gregg

Hi Tapemeasureman,

I reviewed your system configuration and you already have the latest graphics driver 2869 for Q45 chipset. Intel stopped supporting it sometime ago, no more drivers were released.

According to the error message, I recommend you to make a test changing manually the TV resolution (from TV settings).

Also, verify at Hewlett Packard if you already have the latest BIOS and chipset drivers.

If problem continues, it will be necessary to test your system with a second video adapter.
