Graphics HD update fails to install

WIN7 OS - Intel graphics HD download published 7/28/16, 147 mb downloaded but repeated tries to install fail. Error code 80070103. When I run check for updates, I'm told my Intel driver is up to date (10.18.10.3960). . Does this update apply? If so, how to install it? If not, how can I delete it? I don't know the filename or location of the download.

I finally found the answer myself on the web. Go to windows/software distribution/downloads and delete the contents.

No further answers needed.

Mike: I'm not sure you understand my problem. My graphics work fine. When I check for updates, I'm told things are up to date. The problem is that Win update tried to install another update (no file name or location, 147 mb). It was downloaded but won't install. What I need to do is get rid of the download and get the item removed from Win update.

Hi johnbidet,

I understood you now. It is possible to block the download and installation of the update from Windows Update (go to advanced settings and disable the automatic option). However, Windows will continue showing you the update available; you just need to uncheck the option.

I regret the inconvenience but it is operating system limitation.

I suggest you verify if you already have the latest BIOS and drivers proposed by Dell available in the link below.

Mike:

We're getting closer, but I'm not clear yet.. The update has been downloaded and Win Update tries to install it at least once a day. Unchecking the download does no good at all. I need to find the downloaded file and delete it to stop this, but I can't find its name or location. Someone at Intel has the info I need.

Hi Mo7ammad_7assan,

Only Microsoft can delete the option from Windows update; as end users we only have the option to disable it.

Hi johnbidet,

I am following up on your case. Could you please tell me if Windows update is still offering you the wrong graphics driver even with your workaround?

Hi Mo7ammad_7assan,

Windows update is not recognizing properly the system or they have wrong drivers assigned to the graphics card.
