Creators Update Graphics Driver Issue: Core i3 M 370

H there, I understand this is a fairly common problem and I'm surprised there hasn't been a clear fix yet but I've tried updating my PC several times only to meet black screens and broken drivers every time and I inevitably roll back and have to fight with windows about pending updates until I relent again. I'm hoping I can just get this driver to work once and for all this time. I have an HP G62 with a Core i3 M 370 processor. My HD Graphics driver has no numeric identifier, its just "Intel HD Graphics". (I've even used the Intel Support Utility to identify a specific number and still came up blank. Here's what it gave me though: Display Adapter(s): Intel(R) HD Graphics 8.15.10.2900). My question is twofold: is there a driver that will work for my particular setup? and if there is how do I go about getting it and getting it running because I have yet to figure that out.

P.S. If there is no work around and I need to roll back can someone tell me how to permanently disable windows update so it doesn't try to install this dumb update again in the background.

Thank you for joining the Intel Community Support.An updated Intel® graphics driver is not required on legacy platforms (e.g. 5th Generation and older) for the new Microsoft Windows 10® April update (2018). The existing Windows 10 graphics drivers will continue to work with the April update. However, if there are any new issues caused by the Windows 10 April update on legacy platforms, our recommendation is to revert back to the previous Windows 10 version. For the best experience with the latest features introduced with the update, we suggest upgrading the platform with a minimum of 6th Generation processors or better.Now, you can change the settings to prevent Windows 10 from automatically download and install updates, but I recommend you to address this question to Microsoft to get accurate information.Wanner G.

unfortunately, that HP G62 series laptop jmeush is using was not tested by the PC manufacturer (Hewlett-Packard) for compatibility with Windows 10 and running any version of Windows 10 is pretty much "hit-or-miss" on older desktop/laptop PCs not tested by the OEM or computer manufacturer.

By the way, the Intel Core i3 370 M processor is a "1st generation Intel Core" processor from the https://ark.intel.com/products/codename/32724/Arrandale Arrandale series.

only way to really disable windows update in Windows 10 is to resort to 3rd party tools like https://www.sordum.org/9470/windows-update-blocker-v1-1/http:// Windows Update Blocker (WUB) and http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/windows_update_minitool.html Windows Update MiniTool (WUMT).

only advanced users should do this - these tools are not for novices/noobs.
