HDMI 2.0 output not waking from TV switch off on GNU/Linux

I just bought a NUC7CJYH Gemini lake based NUC. I updated the bios to JYGLKCPX.86A.0037.2018.0423.1539 and put linux kernel 4.16.13 along with mesa 18.0.4.

The NUC works great at 3840x2160@60hz on HDMI2.0 with my LG 49uj675V. The issue is that as soon as the TV is power cycled, the display output from the NUC does not restart so the display tells me there's no input. If I flip the resolution on the NUC with xrandr, the output is started again.

There's also the fact the thing won't come back from S3 correctly, but that's another story

What gives?

Hello brendini,

Thank you for contacting us.

I understand that you are having issues with your Intel® NUC NUC7CJYH.

In this case, Intel ®does not test and validate Intel NUC units on Linux*; however we know that a lot of NUC owners are using Linux* successfully on many different Linux distros.

Intel suggests you to check your Linux distribution website and forums at https://01.org/ https://01.org/ for peer assistance with this issue.

I hope this helps.

Best regards.

Diego S.

So for anyone using google here is the bug on freedesktop.org: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=105887 https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=105887

Based on the patch it seems the hdmi is switching too quickly and not giving enough time for the level shifters to settle.
