Brightness Control isn't working with Win10 + Intel Video Driver 10.XXX

Since I upgraded last year my Lenovo ideapad z500 from Win 8.1 to Win 10 I experience an error with the brightness control function.

The error occurs in combination with:

- Lenovo z500 notebook

- Intel HD Graphics 4000 Chip

- Win 10

- and the Intel Video Driver 10.18.10.3277!

When I change the brightness setting in one direction it switches to lowest level and stucks there. No way to change the brightness back -> working nearly impossible.

The only way to get back the brightness function, is to downgrade the Intel Video Driver to version 9.17.10.3223.

Since the problem is know for a while, I'd like to know if there is any effort from intel to fix that issue.

Hello Martin_K,

I understand the brightness control feature is not working on your Lenovo* laptop.

Let me apologize for any inconvenience this issue may be causing to you.

I would like you to try updating the graphics driver. Please download the graphics driver from the following link depending on the operating system you have installed in your computer.

Hello Fred,

thank you for the fast answer. I tried it a few seconds ago.

The good facts first:

- the brightness doesn't drop down to the minimum when I press a brightness control button

- my nvidia graphics card works again (I forgot to mention in the orginial post that after the downgrade to the old driver I wasn't able to use my nvidia geforce gt740 graphic card)

The only bad side here is:

- the brightness stays in the highest position all the time

But I'm really happy with this solution. I think the "always on top" brightness is a sideeffect from the upgrade of my lcd screen.

I changed it a few weeks earlier from the standard 13xx resolution to a full hd display, and some other users who changed the lcd had also some brightness control issues.

So this problem is now solved for me.

Thank you for the fast help!
