Intel HD Graphics 520 Performance Decreases

Hi all, I've been having an issue with my integrated graphics. Sometimes when I wake my computer back up from sleep, my graphics have a sudden decrease in performance. I usually play games on my computer, and get a constant 60+ fps in most games I play. But, on some days it decreases down to 20-30 fps out of nowhere and stays that way, and the next day it is back to normal again. Wondering why this is and any answer is welcome, thank you!

Hello

Thank you for joining the community.

In order to help you better, I would like to gather more information about the configuration you have on the computer. Please attach to this thread the TXT file the Intel® System Support Utility will generate: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25293/Intel-System-Support-Utility https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25293/Intel-System-Support-Utility

Steps to save the report:
  1. Run the utility.
  2. Click on "Scan" to get the scanned system.
  3. Once the scan is complete click on "next".
  4. Use the "save" option, save the report to your desktop.
  5. To attach a file, you must click the "Attach" option on the bottom right-hand corner of the response box.
Could you provide with an example video of the issue with the FPS reported?

Regards,

Leonardo C.

Alright I have the attached info on my system from the scan. I cannot reproduce this as it seems to be random, today my graphics work fine and my fps is at 60 again, and I have no clue why it wasn't working correctly yesterday.

Hello JRussle190

Thank you for your response.

I am glad to know that your system is working fine today. After reviewing the report I see that you are running the system with the driver version .4836 I will recommend that if this happens again you can verify with the HP for available graphics updates for the system.

For testing you could try the Intel generic driver for your graphics controller following these steps:

  1. Download the graphics driver ZIP file: https://downloadmirror.intel.com/27650/a08/win64_15.65.5.4982.zip https://downloadmirror.intel.com/27650/a08/win64_15.65.5.4982.zip
  2. Unzip the file to a designated location or folder.
  3. Right-click Windows Start icon and open Device Manager.
  4. Click "Yes" when prompted for permission from User Account Control.
  5. Expand the Display adapters section.
  6. Right-click the Intel® graphics entry and select Update Driver Software.
  7. Click "Browse my computer for driver software".
  8. Click "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer".
  9. Click "Have Disk".
  10. Click "Browse".
  11. Access the designated location or folder, and access a folder called "Graphics".
  12. Select the file called "igdlh64" or "igdlh".
  13. Click Open, then click OK, and finally click "Next". Drivers are now being installed.
  14. Reboot your computer.
  15. And let me know if you have any issues with the installation.

Since you have motioned that this happens when your system comes out of sleep mode, you can review the power plan on your system to verify that is on high performance on battery and plugged in

Regards,

Leonardo C.
