4k bluray issues and intel 630HD

Im having trouble playing 4k-blurays in my system. The system is fully compatible and should have no problem. Its played fine in the past using powerdvd 17. I had to reinstall windows a while back and reinstalled everything all over again.

I used power dvd advisor and it ticks all the boxes and says fully 4k ready.

Im using an Asus mobo (Z270E) ROG and i7700K, and connected via HDMI to the Intel 630HD display adapter which needs to be used

However...Now when ive been attempting to play a 4k BR the display glitches funky colours, freezes and BSOD on me a number of times. So obviously a driver issue. I updated to the latest intel driver for 630HD and it crashes my system. I downloaded the latest display driver directly from ASUS and it crashes my system.

I completely uninstalled the intel display driver. I then went to windows updates and it updated the driver to a 22.20.16.4836 version automatically.

This is not the driver on the asus website or the driver on the intel site but it now plays 99% of time. It still glitches a bit at the begining but generally plays ok. I

Is anyone familiar with this driver and can anyone inform me of why it is working and the latest ones do not?

I cant find this driver anywhere on the intel site so im pretty confused..

Hello alikzair,

Thank you for joining the Graphics Community. I am sorry to hear you are having issues playing 4K content.

I would like to check on this since it could be related to the driver. Just to confirm, is this the version you tested https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/27412/Graphics-Intel-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-15-60-?product=98909 Download Intel® Graphics Driver for Windows* [15.60]?

Can you please provide your https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25293/Intel-System-Support-Utility-for-Windows- Download Intel® System Support Utility for Windows* report?

Regards,

Amy C.

Hi yes I installed the latest intel driver 15.60.2.4901 and it would not let me play 4k blu-rays It crashed my system with BSOD. This was downloaded directly from Intel Website.

I also tried the 23.20.16.4849 driver which was the latest VGA driver released by ASUS for my Mobo (ROG - Z270E), this also crashed my system when playing 4k bluray.

I uninstalled all drivers and used windows update utility and it automatically installed 22.20.16.4836. This now allows me to play the blu-rays but it does glitch sometimes at the beginning so I am confused. Why do some drivers start with '15' and the others '22/23'?

This is my report attached

Thank you for the information /thread/121557 alikzair.

That is just for internal reference, the 15 from our site indicated the baseline. You can get all the information about that there: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000005654/graphics-drivers.html Understanding the Intel® Graphics Driver Version Number.

I believe this could be related to the Windows re-installation you did, I would like to recommend some steps in order to clean any records of the Intel® HD Graphics that can be interfering. Please see below for this and other suggestions:

Install the latest chipset driver from ASUS: http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/03CHIPSET/MEI_Consumer_11.7.0.1045_20171122.zip?_ga=2.121455816.1764575567.1516199153-1591972974.1464359624

Uninstall current Intel® HD Graphics driver:

  1. Open the Device Manager.
  2. Expand the Display Adapters section.
  3. Find the Intel Graphics Driver.
  4. Right-click the Intel Graphics Driver and select Uninstall.
  5. Select the check box Delete the driver software for this device.
  6. Reboot the computer after uninstall process has finished.
  7. Install one more time driver https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/27412/Graphics-Intel-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-15-60-?product=98909 Download Intel® Graphics Driver for Windows* [15.60] with these steps: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000005629/graphics-drivers.html Manually Install an Intel® Graphics Driver in Windows® 10 and...

Have you tried using a different video player?

Let me know how it goes.

Hi I did all the steps and even disabled my 1080ti gpu.

I can get the blu-ray to play but upon startup it still glitches and the screen goes pink and sometimes blue with vertical lines on it.

When the movie actually begins playing its fine unless I move the mouse or press a key on the keyboard ot glitches again.

What could be the issue? Faulty hardware perhaps?

Alex

It could be possible, but since it worked before it can be software related.

For testing purposes, can you run the blu-rays without the graphics card? Use only the Intel® HD Graphics 630.
