Where can I find the microcode 06-2c-02 revision 1E, or 1D (from 2016/2017)?

I have looked through the https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/27431/Linux-Processor-Microcode-Data-File?v=t microcode download page, but cannot find this particular microcode version there.

It is not the new one that is to be released to fix the Meltdown thing.

It is the one that fixes the memory sinkhole bug, which was released about a year ago iirc.

Could anybody please direct me where I can download one of these?

Hello, Snurg.

Thank you very much for sharing your issue with the Intel® Communities Team.

I understand you would like to know if there is an update for on Operating System regarding the Sinkhole Bug. Allow me to help you regarding this issue you are facing.

Have you checked with the communities support of OS to double check if they are having an update for the microcode directly?

Dear Antony,

thank you for helping!

No, there is update available, neither for Linux nor for BSD.

I know because I looked at the source codes myself.

This is why I have to ask here.

If it is not possible to get the microcode file from Intel, then https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-p-8170998.html I would have to do the hassle described by the user xming in this thread, extracting and converting that microcode from a HP softpak., only because I cannot obtain it from Intel directly.

Thus I would be glad if there were a link to download it from Intel directly.

Thank you again!

Hello, Snurg.

Thank you very much for your reply.

For me to perform a deeper research regarding this information, could you please provide me with the model of your processor and motherboard?

Dear Anthony,

it is about updating several computers of different manufacturers and different processors of the E56xx and X56xx series.

These have all the same Family-Model-Stepping.

As you know from my post above, I have got the file version 1D by extracting it from a HP BIOS update.

I know for sure that version 1E has been released to OEMs more than a year ago.

Instead of having to do awkward and potentially unreliable hacking tricks like extracting the stuff from some OEM BIOS update files, I really would prefer if it would be possible to just download it from Intel.

Otherwise I'd be forced to search for another OEM BIOS update which I can extract the microcode from.

I repeat: I just need the microcode file. Nothing else.

That is all support I need.

Thank you very much!

Hello, Snurg.

Sorry for the delay.

Allow me to share with you that the solution to this issue was a firmware update so, if the mainboard you have is not from Intel® I would highly recommend you to get in touch with the manufacturer of it. Please find more information about this issue in thehttps://security-center.intel.com/advisory.aspx?intelid=INTEL-SA-00075&languageid=en-fr Intel® Security Center and in this https://www.intel.com/content/dam/support/us/en/documents/technologies/intel-active-management-technology-intel-amt/Firmware_Deployment_Process-Rev1.0.pdf Firmware Deployment Procedure Guidance.
