NUC7i5BNK Dual Monitor Setup HDMI to DisplayPort

I do have a NUC7i5BNK that I want to operate with a dual monitor setup as described below:

1st monitor connected Tunderbolt3 to DisplayPort = OK

2nd monitor connected HDMI to DisplayPort = NOK (Screen stays black)

When I connect the 2nd monitor HDMI to DVI it works. However, as I do have 10 NUCs including

the HDMI to DisplayPort cables I prefer it that way. Also I found a Multiple Display Configuration wizward @ https://www.intel.com/content/dam/support/us/en/documents/boardsandkits/wizards/NUC_multi-display/ wizard_template. but my configuration is not listed there.

Hello SydocGRG,

I understand you are having problems when setting up Dual Monitor with your NUC unit. I apologize for any inconvenience this may be causing. Regarding this issue, I would like to start by gathering more information about the system. To better assist you with your request, I will need to check some information about your computer. Please follow these steps:

1. In the keyboard, press WinLogo key + R.

2. In the Run box please type dxdiag and hit Enter.

3. Click on Save All Information (save it in your desktop).

4. Attach to this thread the report.

To attach a file, you must click "Use advanced editor" in the top right and then click the "Attach" option on the bottom right hand the response box.

Also, please bear in mind that Intel® does not recommend the use of any kind of adapters. This is because we cannot test all of them, so we cannot guarantee that these are going to work. We can recommend you to update your graphics driver, that in some cases will fix the problem.

I hope to hear from you.

Regards,

Dear David

Thanks for your reply.

Attached you'll find two reports:

1. DxDiag-HDMI2DVIPort.txt > dual monitor setup working (Connection of 2nd monitor HDMI 2 DVI Port)

2. DxDiag-HDMI2DisplayPort.txt > dual monitor setup NOT working (Connection of 2nd monitor HDMI 2 Display Port)

Regards,

Gregory

Hello SydocGRG,

Thank you for your response,

I can see in the DxDiag sent that you do not have the latest graphic driver installed yet. Being this the case the first option will be to update it to the latest version. Also I was able to determine that you are currently using the "Fall Creators" update of Windows, and the latest graphic driver release was released to fix any problems related to any kind of graphic problem with that update.

Nevertheless, as mentioned previously, you are actually using adapters and we cannot verify nor confirm if a graphic driver update will fix the problem you currently have. It is also recommendable for you to try a different cable and attempt the connection again, you can also refer to the following link to see the different tested peripherals that are known to work with your unit, specifically under "Adapters and Dongles":

I hope you find this helpful.

Hi David

Thanks for checking back. As we are happy with the option HDMI to DVI I did not do any further research on this issue.

Gregory

I have the same problem here in my company.

Intel NUC7i5BNK

1. Monitor USB-C to DP Kabel > OK

2. Monitor HDMI to DP Kabel > Screen is black.

I used this cable: https://www.reichelt.de/USB-Grafikloesungen/SON-X-UCC021-010/3/index.html?ACTION=3&GROUPID=8275&ARTICLE=213315 SON X-UCC021-010: USB C Stecker auf DP Kabel, DP Mode, 4K60, 1 m, weiß bei reichelt elektronik

Second Test with HDMI to DVI Kabel > Same Problem > Screen is black

Third Test to disable the CEC on HDMI in Bios > Screen is black

I have no more Ideas.

While booting the Intel Logo is not showing.

We have 12 other NUC's (without Thunderbolt) in Dual-Monitor-Use without Problems.

Which setup will work?
