uhd graphics 630 does not use RAM

*English is not my first language, sorry for any mistakes.

My motherboard is ASROCK z370pro4, cpu i-3 8100 with uhd630, single 8gb crucial RAM.

This is what I noticed in task manager: (see attached images)

1. no processes running.

2. some medium performance demanding video game

3. high performance demanding video game

In all occasions GPU memory is barely used by the uhd630. (I marked with red lines)

Is it okay or something went wrong?

Thank you for your help:)

Hi Laaru,

I understand the graphics controller is not using any memory. Let me help you on this matter.

I would need additional information about your system configuration, please run the following utility that will provide graphics drivers, BIOS and RAM model versions.

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25293/Intel-System-Support-Utility-for-Windows https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25293/Intel-System-Support-Utility-for-Windows-

Please run the utility above and attach the results.

Regards,

Thank you for the answer!:)

I tried several other video games and in some (not in all) memory is used up to 1.5 Gb for graphics core.

But some games just do not use it at all, for example pretty simple Robocraft-game even on highest settings.

The game lags and freezes but it should work just fine on current PC if it use memory.

I should mention that I downloaded all the drivers from Asrock site for mother board and all the drivers I found for i3-8100, including uhd 630 driver, I found on intel site.

Here are the results of a test:

Hi Laaru,

Thank you for the report, this really helps understand the hardware on your computer.

Please bear in mind you can adjust video memory dynamically through the BIOS of your computer. You are limited to one half of the system memory.

See this link for more information https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000020962/graphics-drivers.html https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000020962/graphics-drivers.html

You may need to copy and paste the link in a separate browser.

Thanks for the support, but this is not the solution to my problem.

I know that the amount of graphics memory in use is dynamically allocated and tried to set it manually in UEFI.

But my current latest asrock uefi №1.30 has only 1024mb for max shared memory as an option, which is not enough. (see the attached images)

So the total answer is that I can not set graphics memory for applications manually and you do not know why my iGPU uhd630 does not use all of 3.8 gb allocated to it.

Anyway most applications work fine, processor is doing great, and maybe I was expecting too much from the integrated graphics.

Thank you for the answers, if I find anything useful for my topic I'll post it.

Hi Laaru,

Thank you for the pictures. I see the BIOS is locked at 1024Mb, this means that your motherboard manufacturer customized this BIOS to get as the maximum video memory for 1GB.
