Hi I have a Gaming Computer lapotp core i7 7 gen, 16GB RAM 1TB SSD, its crashing and freezing with a noise. its happen often I use internet, and sometimes with simple works. My laptop has Nvidia Geforce adaptor as well.

I reinstalled the windows 10 5 times, I tried updating all drivers, I tried to install the latest graphic drivers, I tried watching many videos on youtube to find out what is causing this problem. tried manythings. But each time after sometime freezing and crashing and only way to get it back working is by holding power button to restart.

So finally I disabled the intel HD graphics 630 in device manager and issue solved. now I can use my laptop with no problem, But without graphic adaptor I can't use other monitor and I just use invidia. but I need my intel HD graphics, Can anyone help me please.

What should I do to use by intel graphics with no problem.

Thank you

If you have a laptop with hybrid graphics (i.e. both NVIDIA (or AMD/ATI) Graphics and Intel HD Graphics), you should be using ONLY the drivers provided on the laptop manufacturer's website. In most cases where hybrid graphics is used, the manufacturer has to modify the drivers to support switching between one engine and another. Using drivers without these modifications, problems can occur - just like you are seeing.

Hi, your mean by GPU is intel graphics?

if yes, so its getting updated it self. and when its not I don't have good display in my laptop. and when I use the updated drivers then it keeps crashing. and when I use the manufacturer so it works for some hours, and it freezes after some time.

but when I disable the intel HD graphics it works fine with bad display.

i mean your both GPU ! Intel and NVIDIA. use standart Driver from Windows 10.

Also uninstall both graphic Driver and restart your Windows. after reboot, win10 install the Driver from Windows update.

Hi thank you for guidance, I have uninstalled both drivers and restarted my computer and let windows update download and install the drivers, and restarted it again.

it worked only about 5 minutes and then crashes.

but when I install the drivers provided by manufacturer website then it works fine for 1 hour or 6 hours or a day. and then it crashes and freezes and make a noise sometime. and I have to restart the pc.

So I have tried all these ways, but it keep failing.

@Habibanwari

Try this:

https://github.com/jobeid/TrayPwrD3 GitHub - jobeid/TrayPwrD3: Keeps dGPU on but idle until needed.

May help may not.

The Hybrid cards seem to be having a problem and intel is working on the drivers but it may be sometime before they are sorted.

This is for stuttering and freezing but I have a nasty feeling it may involve your problem also.

Hello Habibanwari

I am checking on your case and there is some information I will like to know, if possible

Could you let us know the exact version that is causing this problem?

What type of video cable are you using to connect the external display?

Could you provide us with DxDiag* report following this steps?
  1. Use the win logo key +R
  2. Type DxDiag then "OK"
  3. Use the "save all the information" option
  4. Save the file to your desktop
  5. Please attach the .txt file to the thread
Regards,

Leonardo C.

Hi

This is the updated dxdiage report. the old one was not correct as I used the wrong vga driver for test. So attached is the right dxdiag report with intel graphic drivers from manufacturer website.

Thank you

Hello Habibanwari

Thank you for your response and for the information provided.

I see that you have laptop computer, I have to point out that it is recommended to use the drivers from the manufacturer due to there are custom for your system, the driver version that you have is 4691, at this point seams that we can check with the OEM for a newer version available, on the other hand, we can try to install the Intel® graphics driver 4944 following this steps

1. Download the graphics driver ZIP file: https://downloadmirror.intel.com/27484/a08/win64_15.65.3.4944.zip https://downloadmirror.intel.com/27484/a08/win64_15.65.3.4944.zip

2. Unzip the file to a designated location or folder.

3. Right-click Windows Start icon and open Device Manager.

4. Click "Yes" when prompted for permission from User Account Control.

5. Expand the Display adapters section.

6. Right-click the Intel® graphics entry and select Update Driver Software.

7. Click "Browse my computer for driver software".

8. Click "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer".

9. Click "Have Disk".

10. Click "Browse".

11. Access the designated location or folder, and access a folder called "Graphics".

12. Select the file called "igdlh64" or "igdlh".

13. Click Open, then click OK, and finally click "Next". Drivers are now being installed.

14. Reboot your computer.

And let me know if you have any issues with the installation.

Regards,

Leonardo C.

Hello Habibanwari

Thank you for the information provided, the drivers the we try were the Intel driver version for the graphics controller, as it was mentioned in the previous post it is recommended to use the OEM drivers since they are built for your system, I recommend to contact the manufacturer for them to try to replicate the issue.

Hi Leonardo

I sent two emails to manufacturer, but they don't reply.

Well, it sounds like you have identified a slimeball manufacturer that we shouldn't be purchasing products from. Your policy should be: no support, no purchase. Your previous responses do not indicate who this manufacturer actually is. Let us know so that we can avoid them too.

If I were you, I would be returning the system. Claiming lack of support is a valid reason for doing so.

Hi Scott

Part of it was my mistake, I didn't keep the purchase receipt and as well the laptop serial number on the bottom is damage on the table.

This laptop is a gaming laptop, it has no Brand name. On the back its written "Notebook computer" and a model number. There is no model as Dell or toshiba or any other, I did search the model and the company name is Clevo pcspecialist. Its a chines company, maybe a new one. They don't write the brand on the laptop.

I have changed the NVIDIA settings now for Preferred Graphics Proceessor as "High-Performance NVIDIA" and now the laptop works with no problem of freezing. But now the cooling fan runs all the time.

this might be a problem now as laptop heating up too much.

and some times it freezes as well.

Is this issue fixed yet? Because none of the OpenGL programs(Blender, ParaView, etc.) are working.

Even QGIS 3D rendering is not working. Please fix this issue.
