Hello. I own a Lenovo Thinkpad T540p. It's a great machine all around except when i try to play source games (CS:S, CS:GO) the screen starts flickering and image tearing. First i installed the latest drivers from the manufacturer (version 20.19.15.4963). It didnt work. Then i installed the latest drivers from this site (version 20.19.15.5058). Still didnt help.

The strange thing is when i enable VSync or windowed mode or antialiasing it works ok, but there is a noticable delay.

Also it works ok under debian

Hardware info is in attachment

TBlac2, Thank you for posting in the Intel® Communities Support. We recommend to install the graphics driver provided by the manufacturer of the computer, since that driver was customized by them work with your specific platform. I looked in Lenovo's web site, and as you mentioned, the latest Intel® graphics driver available is version 20.19.15.4963, but I also looked at the specifications and it says that the graphics controller on this computer is GeForce® GT 730M: https://www.lenovo.com/gb/en/laptops/thinkpad/t-series/t540p/ So please try to install the Nvidia* graphic driver version 24.21.13.9836: https://download.lenovo.com/pccbbs/mobiles/gjdm38ww.exe Do you know which graphics controller is being used when running the game, is it Nvidia* or Intel®? You can always provide the SSU report for us to try to gather that information: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25293/Intel-System-Support-Utility To attach the report, once you select "reply" choose the "clip" icon on the lower left corner. Additionally, I found the Intel® recommended settings for the game, they might be useful for you: https://gameplay.intel.com/en-us/CPUAndGameSelected/Index/78937/642078 Regards, Alberto R. Actually there are multiple versions of T540p. Mine has no Nvidia GPU, so installing the Nvidia driver would be useless therefore the game is running on Intel HD 4600 gpu.

TBlac2, Thank you for sharing those details and for providing the report. The issue seems to be related to a compatibility problem between the games and the Windows* version installed. Since the games are not that new, most likely they were designed to work with Direct X version 10 or 9C, at the moment when you install Windows* 10 Direct X version 12 gets installed automatically, according to some reports the Direct X version 12 is not backwards compatible with versions 9C or 10, that is why the games are not launching: https://store.steampowered.com/app/730/CounterStrike_Global_Offensive/ There might be a works around to make it compatible or to install the files missing manually, but that is something that you will need to check directly with Microsoft* or with the game developer: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us In the following link you will find some suggestions that we can try in order to try to run the games: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000030981/graphics-drivers.html Regards, Alberto R.
