Performance Boost on RPI3 Model B

I am using the NCS stick with a Raspberry Pi 3 Model B for an Object Detection Demo. I am using "Tiny-Yolov2".

I can hardly obtain about 4 frames per second. Is there any way to boost the performance?

Can I use a pipeline-like technique i.e. use the NCS with DONT_BLOCK option and load new data before the previous data is processed (GetResult() is not returning the output).

If this is not possible, is it a hardware limitation or a software limitation?
