C++ IDE for Linux Ubuntu

This entire Linux environment is a new world to me. I am SO used to using Visual Studio and just having things work. Is there any equivalent for the Linux platform?

 

I noticed there are a bunch of makefiles to compile examples were they created by hand or what tool did you use?
