I need to partition my HD so that my OS is on a partition alone and all my data is on its own partition.

  1. Even that the partitioning with Optane enabled will work, I suggest you to disable Optane before doing this.
  2. After creating new partition and moving there your data, it is good idea to create full disk backup (disk image) and only then enable Optane again.
  3. You should know that in case of Optane module failure while disk acceleration is enabled, your HDD becomes not accessible and you will be able to recover your system from the saved disk image.
  4. From you new data partition , create daily backup using Windows History backup or third party software.
