XL-710 Probe Failed error

Hi,

In one of our server with Ubuntu 20.04 (Intel(R) Xeon(R) Gold 6150) having XL710 NIC (4x10G), we are trying to bind vfio-pci with dpdk-devbind script.

dpdk-devbind.py -b vfio-pci 0000:d8:00.0

But getting error : vfio-pci: probe of 0000:d8:00.0 failed with error -22

This issue is coming for all the NIC but only on this particular server and persists after boot also. Binding process, make that particular PCI bus as unusable even for Linux Kernel Driver (i40e)

The linux kernel image is generic : 5.4.0-172-generic.

Thanks

Hi Dinesh,

The Server Model number is Dell R740. We are trying to experiment with one of our applications which is DPDK-based. We are trying to bind the XL710 NIC Port with vfio-pci driver.

Thanks

Hi Dinesh, It is the standard dpdk-devbind script installed from DPDK 20.11.8 Release. The same is working on other servers we have.

Thanks
