JESD example design simulation fails elaboration

I am exactly following the steps in this link

https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/docs/programmable/683113/21-3-19-2-0/simulating-the-design.html

to try and simulate the JESD example design.

I generated the example design and HDL from IP configurator and choose the 222 preset and System Controller (not NIOS).

From within Modelsim-Intel I changed directory as instructed in the link above and ran the macro with "do run_tb_top.tcl"

The error message I received (after lots of compilation) was related to a module parameter called prot_mode.

Any idea how to solve this problem?

Thank

David

Hi David,

Thank you for your patience.

We have checked from our end and we do not observe any error as you mention.

JESD modelsim screenshotJESD modelsim screenshot

From your error message, it looks like the file generated could possibly be incomplete or corrupted.

Allow me to clarify a few items below:

Q1. Have you try to re-generate the example design again with new project?

Q2. Did you made any modification on the testbench script?

Q3. May I know are you using windows or linux environment?

Could you try it with a newer version of Quartus (e.g- 22.3/22.4)?

The Quartus version that you are using is consider a very old version/legacy product. We advise you to use a newer version of Quartus to avoid any bug or major design migration that could lead to errors in the design.

Q4. Could you briefly list down the steps when you generate the example design?

We would like to trace and follow the exact steps to replicate it.

Thank you.

Best Regards,

ZulsyafiqH_Intel

Hi David,

Good day.

I wish to follow up with you on this Case.

We have not heard from you for about a week already.

I would like to get update on my question from my previous reply.

Did you manage to generate the example design with newer Quartus version? Does the error still occur?

Hoping to hear back from you so that we can proceed for next step.

Thank you.

Best Regards,

ZulsyafiqH_Intel

Hello,

I just now returned from a week vacation and will try the things you suggested.

In the meantime, I am on Windows 10, I did not make any modifications to anything.

Will let you know with newer version.

Hello and thanks for your patience.

I installed Quartus 22.4 (Windows) and regenerated the example design.

Unfortunately the Questa license is not yet working, so I am using the old Modelsim (Intel FPGA Edition 10.5b = Quartus Prime Pro 18) to simulate.

I am getting exactly the same error as before.

In the meantime I am working on getting the Questa 2022.1 to work.
