Intel HD 4600 driver cause black screen

So i just upgraded my laptop to windows 10 to find out that everytime i installed intel hd 4600 driver the screen went black but works fine if i uninstal or let it be "microsoft basic adapter display". I also notice that the generic pnp monitor went missing and the display option shows "display device on hdmi". For now im able to control my laptop with my phone since i installed Teamviewer before the screen went black.

Does anyone know how to solve this problem? Tried diffrent ver of drivers and still no luck

Description

Provide a detailed description of the issue

Black screen appears everytime the laptop recognize the display adapter to be "intel HD Graphic 4600". but works totally fine if i uninstall and let it be " microsoft basic display adapter" or run in safe mode. i was able to control my laptop since i installed TeamViewer before updating my graphic and i found out that once Intel HD graphic is installed the laptop will not detect its monitor and transfer the display to HDMI instead.@@(as above) when i got into safe mode there is a yellow triangle sign on generic PnP monitor.

tried different version of driver but still facing the same problem, one particular driver (v10.18.10.3621 (A00) June 05, 2014 by dell ) are able to turn on the display after installation but will go black screen after restart

Please place an X to the right of the option showing how often you see this issue using specific steps. (Ex: 'Every few times a game is started it flickers.' <- This would be "Often")<p>

yes

Make and model of any Displays that are used to see the issue (see note2 below).

EFP = External Flat Panel (Monitor you plug in)

the issue just pop up as long as the laptop recognize the display adapter as "intel HD 4600" even with simple windows update

Hi Edward59,

Let's try by installing all updates from Dell*, I have noticed that there is also a new Graphics version on your manufacturer website, please let me know the outcome.

Done, and yes the screen is still black. one thing i noticed whenever i installed Intel Hd Graphic first then proceed to nvidia's, it will suddenly restart and windows unable to boot properly (had to reinstall windows for this) but if i install nvidia first then intel's the installation will go well but the black screen problem is still here.

Hi Edward59,

Did you already try setting extended or clone mode through Windows® or Intel control panel?

On Windows® you can press Windows Key + P

Hi Edward59,

From this point it seems that your controller is disconnecting the onboard display by default, I can suggest you a BIOS update I noticed that you are using A00 version, and the latest version form you manufacturer is A07. You could try it and see if it works. http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/product-support/product/inspiron-14-7447-laptop/drivers?autoscan=true http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/product-support/product/inspiron-14-7447-laptop/drivers?autoscan=true

Hi Edward59,

Yes, it is possible, but let's try with our latest generic Graphics driver:

How to manually install an Intel® Graphics Driver for Windows® 10

http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/graphics-drivers/000005629.html http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/graphics-drivers/000005629.html

Intel® Beta Graphics Driver for Windows® 10

Please let me know the outcome.

If it doesn't help you, from this point I recommend you to contact Dell* directly and tell them the issue you are getting and the troubleshooting we have done.

What we have done:
  • Installing all updates from Dell*
  • Setting extended or clone mode through Windows® and Intel® Control Panel
  • BIOS update
  • Installing our latest generic driver.

Hi, sorry for being inactive lately. i was quite busy and completely forget about this post.

the solution you provided did NOT solve the issue, however,i called dell and had them fixed it and is now running fine. they mention something about the LCD connector(?) issue and is common problem for this model. Hope this helps those who have the same problem

Really appreciate your effort Intel. Thanks!
