In order to upgrade one's OS to Win 10, one must have a processor that supports NX. Over Christmas I upgraded my desktop with a new motherboard (GigaByte Z97X-SLI) and an i7 4790K 4 GHz CPU. When I tried to upgrade to Windows 10, I got an error message that said: This PC can't run Win 10 because the processor doesn't support a critical feature (NX). I've since learned that NX is a feature that wards off malware. Is there any way to fix this through a software patch or am I just stuck with a less-than-amazing processor? Any ideas?

Please take a look at page 51 of http://download.gigabyte.eu/FileList/Manual/mb_manual_ga-z97x-sli_e.pdf http://download.gigabyte.eu/FileList/Manual/mb_manual_ga-z97x-sli_e.pdf. I wish this could solve your problem, good luck!

Hi rdarnell,
All Intel® 4th generation processors and later are fully compatible with Windows® 10. I believe your motherboard is not recognizing properly the processor. Gigabyte released BIOS version F6; it improves K-sku CPU performance.
I suggest you to update the BIOS to version F6 then, F7 version and finally upgrade the operating system.
