I have a dell dimension 4300 pc using an Intel 82801BA (ICH2) rev 12 mother board with an intel i845 rev a chipset. The current processor is a intel pentium 4 1.8ghz 478 socket set mPGA, I would like to upgrade the processor to its maximum spec allowed by the motherboard. What is the max processor I can use? Or if someone has a list of higher grade compatable processors that would be very useful. Thanks Steven

Hi,
You would need to contact dell about this.
I knwo it is an Intel chipset but the OEMs can limit or exploits bthe features and capabilities of the chipsets. Otehr than contacting Dell you could try searching the net for other people with the same system thaty have upgraded their system and seee what they have used.
Hope this helps.

It looks from the Dell site that a 2Ghz would be the highest chips you could put in there.
