I had ASUS ROG STRIX Z690-E Gaming WIFI motherboard and i was changing thermal paste and after that i started my desktop and it booted fine and then i restarted it again after that restart dimm slot a1 and a2 suddenly stopped working then i did search about in on net and found multiple ans.

btw

A1 - not working

A2 - not working

B1 - Working (but only without xmp)

B2 - Fully Working (mean with XMP too)

and all ram installation combo's which include's {A1/B1}  {A2/B2}  {A1,A2,B1,B2} not working

I have checked for cpu socket bend pins with magnifying glass too. there are not bend pins
so I temp have got Z690 extreme MB and on that too same issue.

Note - All RAM are working checked on B1 and B2 slots.

Please help. Thanks

Good question - for ASUS.  Give them a call.

For this motherboard, DIMM A2 and DIMM B2 is the recommended configuration when using 2 sticks (and of course, if using 4 sticks, all 4 slots must be used).

If you saying that the same happens on another mobo with the same RAM kit, perhaps there is an issue with the kit... Do all the RAM modules get detected in the BIOS?

Is the Q-LED for DRAM lit up? check your mobo's manual, page 23
