I recently purchased a 'new' T9500 cpu on E-bay to replace a T5550. It has the SLAYX marking on the top, however CPU-Z identifies this processor as a T9500 (ES). The processor didn't come in retail packaging. Is the SLAYX cpu an ES cpu? Or did I get did I buy an ES cpu re-labeled as an SLAYX?

Does it say Intel Confidential on it? and ES after the SLAYX?
Normally ES chips have a Qnnnn ID.
SLAYX is the correct code for the T9500
There isn't a retail pack for the T9500, so you wouldn't ever get the retail packaging.

I don't remember if it said Intel Confidential on it. No, it didn't have ES anywhere on it. It's already installed, so I can't read the top unless I completely tear the laptop down. I know for sure that is had 'SLAYX' on the top, though.
Thanks.

I'm not sure if you'll be able to get to the bottom of it. If it's performing well then I wouldn't worry about it.
Sorry I can't be of much help.

Yes, it has been working fine. The fan seems to run alot more than with the T5550. Thanks again.
