I heard from a friend that running RAM at 1600 speed voids the warranty of the 2500k, is this true?

These type of processors support up to 1333 MHz, so running RAM higher than that will make the processor run out of specifications, the processor will try to force RAM to run at the processor supported clock speed 1333 MHz.
Since the processor will be running out of specifications, if the processor fails the warranty will be voided, so it will be up to the Intel warranty department if they approve an exception or not.
