Simplest USB Implementation

Hi all,

Working through my project again and I've hit a small snag with USB implementation. I'm in need of a simple USB device connection that can send small bytes of data. The use of this will be to connect to other devices to check the status of that said device. The other device, for demonstration purposes will be another DE2 board. I was thinking of using the SLS usb2.0 HS Device Controller(RAM Based) to do this. Aside from getting different licensing errors, I just want to know if this is the right way to go?
