Support for TDX in different VMMs on-premise

We have just purchased a new processor that supports TDX. We have installed one of the OS versions recommended here https://github.com/intel/tdx-tools  and have verified that it works. The problem is that we see that for the 3 OS options recommended in the readme the virtual machine deployment is using Qemu or virsh. Does anyone know if there is currently any on-premise solution that works with TDX ?

Hello daraujo,

Thank you for posting in Intel community Forum.

Kindly provide the below details so that we can check this for you.

1) The processor you are using/purchased.

2) You mentioned that for one of the OS, the TDX is working. Kindly mention which OS it is.

3) Also kindly let us know for which OS TDX is not working.

4) Also please confirm the server/system details you are using.

If you have questions, please let us know. Thank you.

Regards,

Sachin KS

1) INTEL(R) XEON(R) GOLD 6548Y+

2) Ubuntu server 23.10

3) We tried debian and proxmox but currently they do not seem to be compatible. So we asked if you know of any other OS for virtual machine management that is compatible or software to install on ubuntu 23.10 that facilitates the management and is neither qemy nor virsh.

4) TDX has been verified to work basically following the example of the canonical repository https://github.com/canonical/tdx .

Anyway, what we want is rather to ask if you know of any on-premise virtual machine management OS that is currently compatible with TDX. We could also use some software that we can install on our ubuntu server 23.10 for this management of virtual machines that is a little more friendly than qemu or virsh.

Hello daraujo,

Greetings!

We would like to inform you that Intel does not advise using third-party software for our customers as it would depend on their computer and company requirements.

For Qemy and Virsh, you may check the link provided below for alternative software options:

 https://alternativeto.net/software/qemu/

The most suitable recommendation would be to post your query on the Ubuntu community support forum for assistance : https://ubuntu.com/support/community-support

Also please note that Ubuntu 23.10 is not a supported distribution on 5th Gen Xeon processors.
