Technical: IKEv2 VPN slow on WiFi

Very technical article about how Wifi and Ethernet performance can be drastically different for IKEv2 VPN based on how the network adapter driver handles threads:

WiFi Adapter: Intel Wi-Fi 6E AX211 160MHz [driver version 23.40.0.4 and older versions]

Indication of incoming packet method: system worker thread

IKEv2 VPN performance: Very Slow [about 6% of expected speed]

 

Ethernet Adapter: Intel Ethernet Controller I225-LMvP [driver version 1.1.4.38]

Indication of incoming packet method: DPC

IKEv2 VPN performance: Fast

 

How do I provide feedback or open a ticket with Intel regarding IKEv2 VPN performance being very slow when used with certain network adapter drivers that are designed differently?

  • Does the slow connection only happen when connecting to an IKEv2 VPN? 
  • What troubleshooting steps have you already performed? This is to avoid repeating them.
  • What is the complete model of your computer? So we can further investigate if this issue might be a known issue with the system.
