UHD graphics 600 - no audio device installed

Hi

Apologies if this is in the wrong place. I purchased a Kogan D600 2 in 1 laptop and did a fresh install but the audio is not working. There is a 'no audio device installed' message where the speaker icon is and in device manger 'multimedia audio contoller' is listed under 'other devices' with a exclaimation mark. I have run the intel  driver detection and update program but that has not helped. Just wondering if anyone has any ideas?

Thanks.

Hello @Bernie3

Thank you for posting on the Intel® communities.

In order to review this further, could you please provide us with the following details?

1- When you said "did a fresh install", did you mean a fresh install of the operating system and all the software? Or did you mean just a fresh install of the graphics driver?

2- Just to make sure, is this issue related to not getting audio working through HDMI output? Is it about not getting audio through a Bluetooth device? Or is this problem about not getting audio through the built-in speakers or the headphone 3.5mm jack?

3- In case this issue is regarding a problem with audio through HDMI, please provide a screenshot from Device Manager > Sound, video and game controllers showing the devices listed in that section.

4- Run the Intel® System Support Utility (Intel® SSU) to gather more details about the system:

  • Download the Intel® SSU and save the application on your computer
  • Open the application, check the "Everything" checkbox, and click "Scan" to see the system and device information. The Intel® SSU defaults to the "Summary View" on the output screen following the scan. Click the menu where it says "Summary" to change to "Detailed View".
  • To save your scan, click Next and click Save.
  • Once you have saved the file (.txt file), please attach it to your reply.

To upload and attach a file, use the "Drag and drop here or browse files to attach" option below the response textbox.

Hello Bernie3

Thank you for your response.

We understand the audio issue is related to the built-in speakers and headphone jack.

The audio controller in charge o those devices is usually a third-party component like Realtek, Conexant, etc.

Also, the audio functionality related to Intel® Graphics is only via HDMI* (Intel graphics doesn't provide audio functionality through integrated speakers or headphones). In this scenario, this doesn't relate to a Graphics-audio issue.

Checking the Intel® SSU report, we noticed that the information under "Sound Card" states "Not Available" and additional information about the audio device is not available in the report.

Because it is up to the Computer Manufacturer (OEM) to provide a specific driver for those types of audio components (built-in speakers, headphones jack, etc), the recommendation is to contact the OEM for the proper drivers and software.

We tried to find drivers on the Kogan* websites but we couldn't find any. Therefore, at this point, our recommendation is to contact their support team since that is the proper channel of support. They may help you to install the recommended drivers and software for your device and assist you with additional troubleshooting or assistance if required.

Please refer to this link for more information on how to contact Kogan Support.

Having said that, we will proceed to close this thread now. If you need any additional information, please submit a new question as this thread will no longer be monitored. Thank you for your understanding.
